Music Monday

This one has been stuck in my head for the past few days and, because it’s Monday and I have homework to do still, I’ll take the free pass and do a MM post that will foreshadow some upcoming posts I hope to write! 🙂

Enjoy!!

MATTHEW WEST-ONE LESS LYRICS

There’s a child
Been abandoned on the street
Now she’s waiting for someone to be her miracle

There’s a wife
Somewhere halfway around the world
Begging God for a little girl she can call her own

Well, worlds collide, and colors fade
And a man and wife brought their little girl home today

And there’s one less
One less
One less broken heart in the world tonight

We are called
To the widows and the orphans
But it’s easy to ignore their silent cries

Oh, but every single time
Somebody reaches into the darkness
Makes a choice to help the helpless
They let mercy save a life

Well the truth is we are all the orphans
But love has left the ninety-nine
Just to find the one

One less night alone
One less child without a home
One less birthday gone forgotten
One more soul rising from the bottom

One less
One less
There’s one less broken heart in the world tonight

Music Monday: The Story

It’s been a while since I posted a MM. This song has always, always been a favorite of mine. Now that Sara Ramirez has done a cover of it for the Grey’s Anatomy Music Event, I love it even more. Enjoy. 🙂

The Story-Sara Ramirez

All of these lines across my face
Tell you the story of who I am
So many stories of where I’ve been
And how I got to where I am

But these stories don’t mean anything
When you’ve got no one to tell them to
It’s true, I was made for you

I climbed across the mountaintops
Travel across the ocean blue
I cross over lines and I broke all the rules
And baby I broke them all for you

Oh because even when I was flat broke
You made me feel like a million bucks
You do, I was made for you

You see the smile that’s on my mouth
It’s hiding the words that don’t come out
All of the friends who think that I’m blessed
They don’t know I’m in this mess

No they don’t know who I really am
http://www.musicloversgroup.com
And they don’t know what I’ve been through
Like you do, and I was made for you

All of these lines across my face
Tell you the story of who I am
So many stories of where I’ve been
And how I got to where I am

Oh but these stories don’t mean anything
When you’ve got no one to tell them to
It’s true, I was made for you
Oh yeah, and it’s true that I was made for you.

His Love through the earbuds

Today was a day filled with a whole lot of nothing. I worked from home this morning because my dad had to go into work, then I didn’t have much motivation to do anything else. I did work out a little bit this morning and plan to fit in one more later on tonight, but that’s really it. A whole lot of nothing…except thinking, which is something.

I spent far too much time YouTubing concert videos and listening to songs that I haven’t heard in a while. One of the concerts I searched was the Casting Crowns concert I attended last February with some friends from school. For those of you who don’t know, Casting Crowns is an awesome Christian band that I fell in love with the first time I heard this song. This concert was one of the most amazing musical, emotional, and spiritual experiences I have ever had (and I’m longing to experience something like it again soon)! There was something truly awe-inspiring about being in a huge, sold out concert arena where people are singing along and having their own (public) private prayer conversations the entire night, to music in its most pure form.

The more songs I listened to, the more I started thinking. And even praying in my own way. There are phases that I go through where all I want to listen to is Christian music. I have a playlist on my iPod with something like 300 songs on it. When I get those feelings within me, I know that–for one reason or anotther–I am being reminded to come back to my faith, to take some time out, and to really think, reflect, and pray. Even when, sometimes, I might not feel like I have wandered away.

For me, the music is a beautiful portrayal of God’s love and His grace and gifts that he gives each of us. There are some songs that I might not have chosen to listen to on a particular day, but shuffle puts them right into my ears, and into my heart. Who says God doesn’t work through music? 🙂

That’s what today’s supposed “nothingness” has reminded me. That I need to take some QT with my playlist, my journal, my Bible, and my Father; gladly.

Music Monday: Camp Care edition

The theme for Winter Camp this year was HOPE. Hope for the children, hope for their families, hope for all of us. We all can lose hope sometimes, but it is never truly gone. That’s what this weekend taught me. Through two amazing campers, who you’ll hear more about this week!

Until I have time to write a true Camp post, I thought I’d share the two songs that shaped Saturday session at Camp 🙂

Love Me-JJ Heller

I Still Believe-Jeremy Camp

Boston bound

I can’t lie. I can’t think of anything of real substance to post tonight, but I refuse to break my committment of blogging for 30 days, so here’s what I have for you tonight.

I can’t wait to be done with class and assignments for the week, because that means it’s time to head to Boston!! I’m heading up for concert with a friend from QU and we’re meeting my roommate Katie who’s from New Hampshire! 🙂

NEEDTOBREATHE! They’re an awesome band. Kindof following the pattern of Lifehouse in that they started out as primarily a Christian band and have gotten a lot more mainstream play as their albums came out. This trip has been in the works for months so I’m pumped! I’ll leave you with a few songs of theirs (one from each album).  Katie and I first heard them during a spin class last year and it was love at first listen! They have 3 CDs and I strongly reccommend all of them!

Sorry, only could find the live version! I love this one too much to not include it though!

Music Monday!

I PROMISE I will update on the 5k today, after I sleep for a few hours. It was so amazing! I really wanted to post my Music Monday post a little early though, because these two songs really got me through the insanely hilly part of today (for 1.5 miles, NUTS!). The first isn’t the actually song I had, it was an original mix with about 6 other songs from a friend of mine, but for posting purposes, this works! 🙂

Belinda Carlisle-Heaven Is A Place On Earth (Remix)

The second is from Matthew West’s new Album The Story of Your Life and is absolutely amazing! I kept singing in in my head all the way to mile 3.2! I’m pretty sure the title speaks for itself! 🙂

Matthew West-Survivors

Enjoy, and see you in a few hours for the race report!

Less Than 48 hours…5k playlist!!

With less than 48 hours until 3.2 miles, I think I’ve FINALLY finalized my playlist. I thought I’d post it here for anyone who might be interested. Thanks Katie for all the help!! Here it is!

Official timing is being done by Hi-Tek Racing, so if we get our bib numbers early enough I’ll post it here so you can follow me. If not, I’ll definitely post a post-race report by Monday!

Any and all prayers and positive vibes you can send this way starting at 9am Saturday would be appreciated! 🙂
